Android app for the 5K
How far is the app in development now? Anything to share about it yet?

Will the app support choosing saved PEQ presets?

Qudelix
Hi,
Thank you for your inquiry and interest in 5K.

Currently, we're developing the F/W mainly, and iOS app to test the interaction with the F/W. The Android App will be ready before the production release.
We would provide the screenshot of the beta iOS app next week since many users are interested in the app features.
The companion mobile app is one of the key advantages of 5K, and we will keep updating the app with users once we release the product.
The app is just a remote controller, and every feature needs to be supported by the embedded DSP.
The embedded 20-band equalizer is a vital benefit of 5K DAC/AMP over other similar products. This pro-grade equalizer processes every incoming source audio from everywhere: Youtube, Apple Music, Spotify, iOS, Android, PC, Bluetooth(all codecs), and USB.
Undoubtedly, the app provides predefined preset as well as user presets.

Thank you for your support once again.

Great, thanks for the info!!

I have the E1DA PowerDAC V2 for which I have some saved PEQ presets, which were made based on frequency response curves. The PowerDAC V2 supports 7 parameters for eq. So maybe it won't be possible to reuse those presets for the 5K?

Have you thought of some way to make PEQ preset based on a raw frequency response curve?

Qudelix
Please let us know what the 7 parameters are.
We'll check the feasibility.
The app displays the frequency response upon the parameter changes.
Anyway, please don't worry about the EQ, the app, and the F/W.
We'll provide the full degree of freedom for PEQ.
And also we can update them together with users, once we release the product.
Thank you!

May I suggest adding the ability to manage all your bluetooth connection in the app, B&W and Bose has managed to sort it out very good in their respective app. If its technically possible ofc.

This is B&W's APP
Hi !
i have a question, i see on your app that there are only maximum +12/-12db of gain for each PEQ settings point,
it's possible to put the limit to more for those who need it? +18/-18db will be good for all kinds of adjustments.
And the 5K will be perfect for me !
Thank you very much

A: Thank you for the suggestion. Yes, we'll check the feasibility.
We'll add the feature to out app, if possible.

A: OK, we'll extend the min/max as you suggested.
Thank you!

Would it be possible for you to release a standalone PEQ app based on this app, for system-wide parametric software EQing on Android?
Qudelix
@B0b:

The 5K companion app is just a remote controller, communication with a 5K device. The app has no actual processing unit inside.
We can make a music player app and add our processing algorithm into it, but it can process the local music streaming only. (No system-wide)
There are many Android EQ app, supporting system-wide EQ, but all of them are remote controllers, controlling the built-in Android OS EQ block.
We hope this answers your question.
Thank you!

I see, looks like the 5K DAC will be one of the only options for system-wide parametric EQ on Android then. Can't wait to use it!
Also will you get rid of the hamburger menu style of the old ES100 app? Since Android now introduced full system gestures.

I'd go for a swipe gesture system.
